Call it what you will
Give it a name
Wrapped neatly
Round peg in a square hole
Label it, categorize, alphabetize
Comfort zone is not your own
Call it what you will
My experience is below the belt
Anxiety felt pressure build up
Pit of my stomach
Elephant sitting on my chest
Close my eyes and realize
It is always your face I see
It’s always your voice I hear
Calling my name drift away
Images coated in a protective cloak
You kneeling wrapped in red
Reaching out I touch you for the last time
You are always kneeling wrapped in red
Sirens blare, sirens blare and I move forward
But you are never there – not anymore
Deep breath in, slow blow out
Comfort in the night once the fear subsides
A protective cloak arms of darkness protective cloak
Comfort in the night until the light of day – breaks
Creeping in magnifying all my fears and deals – with God
So I shift with the tide; deep breath in, slow blow out
Shadows fade, monsters hide
Comfort in the light of day until the night returns – repetitive loop
Deep breath in, slow blow out
Comfort in the night once the fear subsides
A protective cloak arms of darkness protective cloak
Comfort in the night until the light of day – breaks
Creeping in magnifying all my fears and deals – with God
Call it what you will
Give it a name
Wrapped neatly
Round peg in a square hole…
